Cycling in Vimmerby

Vimmerby Camping is the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to explore the beautiful landscape of Vimmerby by bike and at the same time rejuvenate both body and mind. Here you can cycle along paved roads, gravel roads and forest paths that are often completely car-free. You’ll experience a diverse landscape with forests, open fields and cultural areas.

All routes run on roads with very little or almost no traffic. Still, be mindful and follow the traffic rules! The tours vary in length from 9 km to 50 km and take you on gravel roads, forest roads, and sometimes short sections of trails. Some stretches might feel a bit “bumpy”, but then it’s just about taking it easy or hopping off your bike for a moment. Please note that the ground surface can vary depending on the season or any forest logging.

There are five cycling routes to choose from, and these are described in more detail further down the page:
  • Koppetorp – 11 km
  • Nyshult – 16 km
  • Hålbäckshult – 19 km
  • Grinderum – 26 km
  • Slättfall – 30 km

Michael Ekström has created maps and cycling routes for us, allowing you to enjoy a safe and pleasant bike ride during your stay at Vimmerby Camping.

Cycle to Astrid Lindgren’s World

Cycling to Astrid Lindgren’s World is not only a fun adventure for the whole family but also a way to experience the Småland nature up close. We have created a special cycling route that takes you safely and child-friendly from Vimmerby Camping to the park.

The route has been designed with a focus on safety, using quiet roads as much as possible and minimizing intersections. It’s difficult to avoid intersections entirely, but this path has been carefully chosen to work well even for younger cyclists. The route mainly follows the “red loop” and is relatively flat, making it easy to cycle even with children.

The map and route have been carefully developed by Michael Ekström in collaboration with us at Vimmerby Camping. Feel free to check out the map below and talk to us at the reception if you want more tips before you set off!
