The history of Vimmerby Camping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here you can read about the history of Vimmerby Camping from the 1940s to today, and how the facility has developed over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a historic facility where the first campers visited Vimmerby Camping sometime in the 1940s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that time, our hostel Alphyddan was the center of the facility, as it served as the reception, bakery, and caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out in the lake, there was a large diving tower and a classic dance floor \u2013 with a touch of the Riviera as it was built out over the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remaining from that time, in addition to the hostel, are the beautifully carved entrance gates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dance floor disappeared in the early 80s and made way for, among other things, the beautiful lakeside sauna that now floats in its place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diving tower, which was built by the military during an exercise, remained until the late 80s, when there was no longer anyone responsible for its maintenance and upkeep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you sift through archive photos, you can quickly conclude that the area around Nossen’s beach has been a place of joy for generation after generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of Nossenbadet Camping<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A lot has happened since the first tents were pitched on the lawns, which at that time were owned by Vimmerby Municipality and leased out to private operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2000, Nossenbadet Camping became Vimmerby Camping, Nossenbadet. This happened when Lasse “NossenBossen” Johansson bought the facility from the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great development took off, and building after building followed as the needs increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lasse ran the facility successfully for 19 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, the facility was purchased by Elisabeth & Hampus<\/a>, who work with great enthusiasm every day for development in collaboration with preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facility is beautifully situated in nature, and the environment is carefully maintained in consultation with other operations in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Renovation of the upper service building with new toilets, showers, and kitchen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • Renovation of the restaurant’s serving area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • New dog shower with toilet and regular shower.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

        • Renovation of the restaurant kitchen to turn it into a pizzeria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Construction of a new large playground.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Renovation of the lower service building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Renovation of the restaurant kitchen to accommodate increased capacity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Installation of solar panels throughout the facility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Leveling of camping plots 55-57, 90-97, plus three new camping plots and improved tent area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • New accommodation options with Glamping tents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
