Located in the southeastern part of Vimmerby, it is just a stone&#8217;s throw from Vimmerby Camping\u2014or about two kilometers away, perfect for a lovely walk. If you prefer to drive, there is a spacious parking area accessible from \u00c4l\u00e5kragatan.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Historical Site with Ancient Graves<\/h2>\n\n<p>G\u00e4stgivarehagen is a historical site that houses approximately 300 ancient graves from the 8th to the 10th century. The grave area was larger but has been partially cultivated over the years. Among the finds made in the graves are buckles, coins, and knives, but no weapons have been discovered, indicating that these graves belonged to the Viking era. Many of these finds can be seen at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vimmerby.se\/uppleva-och-gora\/stadsmuseet-naktergalen\">N\u00e4ktergalen Museum<\/a>, located in central Vimmerby.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Name and History of G\u00e4stgivarehagen<\/h2>\n\n<p>The name G\u00e4stgivarehagen originates from the innkeeper in Vimmerby who, in the 18th century, used the land as pasture for horses. If you walk along the western part of Storgatan, you can see the old inn &#8220;Grankvistg\u00e5rden,&#8221; which still exists. The building is privately owned and extends between Storgatan and St\u00e5ng\u00e5gatan. It is listed as a historic building and features beautiful wall and ceiling paintings. The museum consists of several older buildings, including Stadsg\u00e5rden, \u00d6stra Tullstugan, and Stolpes Stuga. When you are on site, you can scan a QR code with your mobile phone for a guided tour, or you can take the tour right now: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hembygd.se\/vimmerby\/rundtur\">Guided Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vimmerby Pottery and Artists<\/h2>\n\n<p>In Venholm, just on the outskirts of G\u00e4stgivarehagen, you will find Vimmerby Pottery and the artists <a href=\"https:\/\/karinbengtson.se\/\">Dale Karlsson and Karin Bengtsson<\/a>. Not far away is Carl Forsberg&#8217;s pottery, founded in 1864.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Celebrations and Picnics in G\u00e4stgivarehagen<\/h2>\n\n<p>G\u00e4stgivarehagen has been the site of many celebrations over the years. In the 19th century, there was a popular celebration spot with a dance floor, and Midsummer has been celebrated here for many years with a large Midsummer pole. You can also host your own little celebration\u2014bring a picnic basket and sit down among the beautiful birches on a bench. If you visit in spring, the entire ground will be covered with anemones. Be sure to check out the little caf\u00e9 when it is open. There is a small serving area with coffee and pastries near the parking lot.
